The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) would like to welcome you to the Bentleyville Interchange Improvement Project home page.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, completed the final design for SR0070 Section 21H – Bentleyville Interchange Improvement Project. The project area encompasses two full interchanges (32A and 32B) and includes widening I-70 to provide a wider median; lengthening ramp acceleration and deceleration lanes; replacement of the bridge carrying I-70 over SR 2040, Pigeon Creek, and Norfolk Southern Railroad; replacement of the bridge carrying PA Route 917 over I-70; elimination of two of the PA Route 917 (Pittsburgh Road) interchange ramps, and secondary roadway improvements. The secondary roadway improvements include State Route 2044 and State Route 2040 from the SR 2044 intersection through and including the PA Route 917 intersection.
Due to comments received during a public meeting in December 2012, and following an engineering evaluation of its feasibility, PennDOT and FHWA have decided to retain the eastbound off ramp and westbound on ramp at the PA Route 917 (Pittsburgh Road) interchange.
The purpose of this site is to provide information on proposed improvements to the existing interchange, as well as the design schedule, public meeting announcements, scope and other vital information that may be of interest to residents and businesses within the project area.
Please feel free to review the information on the project web page. If you have any questions or would like to comment on the project, please feel free to contact Mr. Troy Pritts, PennDOT District 12-0 Project Manager.
